I like picking random hotels & this was one of the best (so far) that I’ve stayed in Semenanjung.
Courtyard @ Heeren is run by a family who are always on-site and made sure their hotel patrons feel welcomed & comfortable. It’s located in one of the old buildings along Heeren St (now Jln Tun Tan Cheng Lock) and has 14 rooms, all of which are uniquely designed – a mixture of Peranakan & Western style.

The hotel retained the Peranakan decos
Superior room which comes with an LCD TV. Note: This bed is super comfy!
My room was small but enough to accommodate 2 persons. The bathroom comes with a rainfall shower & I somehow liked it a lot (sorry, no pic!). Staff are very friendly and helpful – ask them to recommend you food in Malacca and they’ll be able to tell you lots of places (including the hidden yummy ones) to try. Complimentary light breakfast is provided. There is free parking available behind the hotel and is monitored by their CCTV. For additional security, they hired guards for the graveyard shift. Room rates start from RM 200 (weekdays) or RM 260 (weekends/eve & public holidays).
The only drawback of this place is that it’s not sound-proofed. I could hear footsteps and people talking from my room. It’s probably better to get a room upstairs instead of the first level.
Nevertheless, Courtyard @ Heeren is a charming place for those who want to get away from the city for relaxation. It’s worth it & I’ll most likely pick this place if I make another trip to Malacca. And not to forget, this hotel is located just one street away from Jonker St!
