I’ve heard about Decanter’s famous assam laksa but never tried it because — Decanter isn’t the place that will pop up in my mind if I’m thinking of lunch or dinner. However, I told Mr. T that everyone claimed they have the best assam laksa in town so we ended up in the Section 17’s branch on a Saturday noon (it’s closed on Sundays).
There was no crowd, or maybe we were just early.
Penang Road Assam Laksa, RM 9
Undoubtedly, Mr. T had this and he agreed that it’s one of the best assam laksas he’s ever had in his life. Even better than the one he grew up eating in Taipan USJ (which has moved out of the coffee shop since last month).
Spaghetti Marinara, RM 12
I like marinara & carbonara – a lot – and always become excited when I see it on the menu. However, this one was forgettable.
Homemade Apple Pie, RM 7
The gooey, soft pie contained more apple-flavoured starch than the real apples. I didn’t like it.
Orange & Carrot Juices, RM 5.50 each
I can see us returning for their assam laksa — and I’ll probably try other Western food from their menu. It’s quiet, not crowded and has a delightful ambiance with sunshine shining through its windows.
